NEW WEBSITE GUIDES PEOPLE TO A FUTURE IN RESOURCES

/Environment News Articles/ - PERTH, AUSTRALIA, July 29, 2008 - Discovering how to secure a job in the resources sector needn't be a challenge, thanks to the new Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA (CME) careers website www.peopleforthefuture.com.au.

The website has been designed for job-seekers to explore the range of exciting and diverse employment opportunities the resources sector has to offer.

Users can select jobs of interest and discover the duties performed, skills required and career pathways available. The site also explains where to acquire necessary qualifications, including links to education and training providers.

There are many websites which list available jobs but few that provide information on how, and what is required, to secure a job in the industry according to CME Acting Chief Executive, Nicole Roocke.
In launching the new website, Ms Roocke said "We know students and job-seekers have a range of career choices available and we want them to be fully aware of the opportunities within the resources sector."

"This website will provide users with all the information they need to equip themselves for a career in the sector, from education and training, to a greater understanding of the various roles."
"The development of the website is an important part of our industry's response to the skilled labour shortage in the State," Ms Roocke explained.

The website identifies pathways into the sector for all job seekers - school leavers, graduates, skilled migrants, and people returning to the workforce or who are just looking for a career change.
The site is also a helpful resource for educators and career advisors.
