NEW FIBC BAG REFURBISHING PROGRAM REDUCES COST AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT Berry Plastics - Tapes and Coatings Division launches lifecycle processing for flexible intermediate bulk containers
Smart for companies, good for the environment, and logistically simple, Berry Plastics has crafted a program designed to extend the lifecycle of used FIBCs in good shape.

/Environment News Articles/ - FRANKLIN, MA, August 04, 2008 - Berry Plastics - Tapes and Coatings Division, manufacturers of the globally established FIBC brands, Marino Technologies, Rafypak, Walpole Bag, and Atlas Bag, is pleased to announce the launch of its FIBC Bag Refurbishing Program.

Smart for companies, good for the environment, and logistically simple, Berry Plastics has crafted a program designed to extend the lifecycle of used FIBCs in good shape. The process begins when used FIBCs are picked-up at a designated end-user location. Each bag is then thoroughly inspected domestically to determine if it is fit for refurbishing - or if it's ready for recycling. (Bags beyond refurbishing are 100% recyclable.) Bags qualified for refurbishing are cleaned, repaired, and restored to their original quality and appearance. After final inspection, refurbished bags are returned to the customer's designated location.

This timely refurbishing program offers complete lifecycle service processing for the bags. An FIBC in good condition can be refurbished, repaired, and used as many as 4 to 6 times. Producing a safe, clean bag ready for reuse through refurbishing helps to reduce container cost and environmental impact.

"We are very pleased to be introducing an environmentally-conscious, cost-effective program that allows bag owners to get multiple uses from an FIBC and realize a financial gain," states Mr. Ernie Giordano, FIBC Sales and Marketing Leader for Berry Plastics - Tapes and Coatings Division. "Because the cost of refurbishing a bag is significantly lower than the price of a new FIBC, a bag owner can maximize the use of an FIBC, reduce their operational spending, and contribute more to their bottom line," he adds.

Bags are currently being accepted into the program. For further information please contact Ernie Giordano at erniegiordano@berryplastics.com or by calling 508.918.1684.
