DirectRooms.com that people from Puerto Princesa City in the Philippine district of Palawan are going to be holding a festival dedicated to restoring the balance of nature in the region's woodlands.
PHUKET, THAILAND, May 07, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Feast of the Forest is a large scale reforestation project when on 19th June 2011 citizens will be looking to give back to Mother Nature by planting a variety of species of tree. Thousands of trees, plants and flowers are planted in the areas where previous trees have been cut down or in available land spaces that are donated by companies.
The initiative began in 1991 and since that time close to two million trees have been planted making the city one of the few green areas of the Philippines. This year the organisers aim to plant over 140,000 trees, a significant increase from the 28,000 that went into the ground in the project's first year.
Before the day of the planting everyone involved is invited along to a large party with games, contests and celebrities brought in to help and perform for the evening. Around 30,000 people are expected to help out featuring the whole cross section of the community including students, employees, the army, boy scouts and even foreign tourists staying at a hotel Palawan can come along.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "Many overseas environmentalists visit especially and bookings at hotels increase to the extent that many are left without vacancies. Visitors should be sure to plan their stay early online."
