Julie M. Evens Distinguished as a VIP of the Year for Excellence in Plant Protection and Preservation
Julie Evens has published numerous reports, articles and books on California vegetation
SACRAMENTO, CA, October 14, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Julie M. Evens, Vegetation Program Director of the California Native Plant Society, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in the knowledge and preservation of native plants.
Ms. Evens strongly believes in the importance of preserving natural plant habitats. For the past decade, she has served as the vegetation program director and lead vegetation ecologist for the California Native Plant Society, a nonprofit organization committed to the appreciation and conservation of California plant life through education, science and other mediums. Ms. Evens' position entails studying vegetation across the state and conducting resource assessments with vegetation mapping, sampling, and classification. In addition, she supervises staff, develops research grants, manages complex projects, updates databases, and provides workshops and trainings. Ms. Evens, who possesses expertise in plant ecology, has published numerous reports, articles and books on California vegetation, including co-authoring the authoritative manual on California's vegetation.
In recognition of her work in assessing and preserving native plant heritage, Ms. Evens was recently named a VIP member of Cambridge Who's Who. She attributes her success to her drive, passion and leadership in her profession. A graduate of Humboldt State University, she holds a master's degree in biology, as well as dual bachelor's degrees in biology and environmental studies from U.C. Santa Cruz. In the years to come, Ms. Evens aspires to continue advancing science and spreading awareness of plant preservation in the state of California through research and education.
