Sonia Cosme has been accepted among the prestigious ranks of Stanford Who's Who as a result of her remarkable professional career.

GUAYNABO, PR, April 21, 2011 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Sonia Cosme has been accepted among the prestigious ranks of Stanford Who's Who as a result of her remarkable professional career. As Owner and President of Environmental Development and Sustainability Inc., as well as throughout her incredible 22 years in the business, Sonia has routinely exhibited the passion, vision and dedication necessary to be considered among the best.

Established in 2003, Environmental Development and Sustainability Inc. (EDS) is an 8a certified, women-owned enterprise dedicated to providing support to their clients to improve their environmental performance and their relationships with the local community in order to achieve a sustainable development.

EDS is involved in a wide variety of environmentally related projects. They are active in the development of Storm Water Management Programs under the NPDES MS4 permits; environmental permitting; solid waste management and recycling programs; pollution prevention programs; environmental impact studies; implementation of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18000 Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems; development of environmental training programs; social responsibility; Phase I Environmental site assessments; environmental auditing; asbestos and lead inspection and abatement; and construction and remodeling management.

Sonia is in charge of management, project management and the administration of the company as well as ensuring the company's efficiency. She began in the industry by creating an environmental consultation company with a partner in Venezuela in 1989. After working there for 10 years, she came to Puerto Rico and eventually started EDS in 2003.

During her collegiate career, she earned a Master's degree in Global Management from the University of Phoenix and a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering and Biology while studying in Venezuela. Sonia is a Member of the Chamber of Commerce of Puerto Rico. She was also published in Caribbean Business, in an article entitled, "Women Who Lead."
